-- The Hui Iatrology
The Hui iatrology is a combination of the Chinese traditional medicine and Arab-Islam medicine
As early as the 7th century, Arab-Islamic iatrology used to hold a leading position in the world iatrology and had great influence on the western modern medicine. Till the middle ages, Avicenna, a great Arabic philosopher, scientist and physicist, wrote a magnum opus Medicine Codex from 980 to 1037, which integrated ancient Greek iatrology, Indian iatrology, Chinese iatrology, Arabian iatrology and philosophy. He thus became the founder of modern and Arabian iatrology. At that time there were many Arabian iatrological works, but many of them including Medicine Codex were lost and only about 400 remain extant.
The medical development of Chinese Hui ethnic minority was accompanied with the medicine exchange between China and Arabic countries. The medicine and its culture also entered a time of great prosperity during the Tang (618-907), Jin (1115-1234) and Yuan dynasties (1127-1279). During that period, many great medicinal works with Chinese Hui characteristic emerged.
