The Qiang are an old nation in China and are called "the nation in the
clouds" because they live next to mountains. Most of Qiang people live in Mao
County in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, on the eastern edge of
the Tibetan plateau in the northwest part of Sichuan Province.
Every May 5th according to the lunar calendar, the Waer
Ezu Festival is celebrated for the goddess of song and dance-Shalang Sister.
Because women are the main roles, the local people also call it the Women's
Festival.
