Sichuan Opera and Mianzhu Wood-Engraving New Year Pictures of the Sichuan intangible cultural heritage series are published by Sichuan People's Publishing House as gifts for the International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival in Chengdu that opened on Wednesday.
According to Tan Jihe, one of the chief editors of Sichuan Opera and Mianzhu Wood-Engraving New Year Pictures, Sichuan Province is not only rich in natural heritage and material cultural heritage, but also boasts a variety of colorful intangible cultural heritage which is the root of Shu Culture and an essential part of Chinese memory. Publishing the Sichuan intangible cultural heritage series is a new way to protect this heritage.
Sichuan People's Publishing House is planning to publish books on every masterpiece of Sichuan intangible cultural heritage in sequence.
