A film festival is opening in Moscow to treat local cinema goers to a taste
of China's movie history. It's part of an intergovernmental cultural project
aimed at increasing mutual understanding between Russian and Chinese peoples.
The major retrospective of Classic Chinese Movies was launched in Moscow as
part of the ongoing Year of China across Russia.
The screenings were organized by the China Cinema Archive whose head, Mr. Fu Hongxing, attended the opening ceremony.
Fu Hongxing said, "Through the event, we would like to give Russian people an overview of the past and present of China's movie industry."
From May the 29th to June the 7th, it will screen twenty Chinese-made films, including "My Life Story", "Red Sorghum", and "Be There or Be Square".
Tuesday's opening ceremony ended with a screening of "My Life Story". The movie is based on Lao She's novel of the same title.
