The show, named "Night of Beijing in Moscow," was staged at Manesh Central Exhibition Hall near the Kremlin.
More than 3,000 performers both from China and Russia took part in the extravaganza.
The chief director of the evening gala, Audris Leipa, says the show was funded by Russian audience members.
"Many Russian people like Chinese culture and food very much. Tonight's activity meets their needs to understand China."
The show has attracted many people's curiosity to discover China more.
One Russian audience member expresses his willingness to visit China.
"China is a very beautiful country. Even though I've never been there, the show gives me a brand-new picture of the country. I look forward to going to China and taking a look at it by myself some day."
As one of the organizers of the show, the general manager of the China-Russia Culture Exchange Center, Li Zhonglun, says the show represents people's hopes for increased exchanges between the two nations.
"Chinese people in Moscow hope the evening gala will bring the first sound of festival gongs and drums. We hope the Year of China will flourish."
The "Year of China in Russia" is a continuation of the Year of Russia in China, with major events having taken place in China to promote communication between the two neighbors.
