The Venice Bienniale Foundation is organizing the 52nd International Art Exhibition titled "Think with your senses - Sense with your mind. Art in the present", curated by Robert Storr from the United States.
Storr defines this as "an exhibition looking toward the future but not at the past. The exhibition attempts to overcome the attitude towards art as a dichotomy between the perceptive and the conceptual, between thought and feeling, pleasure and pain, intuition and critical reflection".
The exhibition presents approximately one hundred artists from around the world with works, including site specific ones, and new productions created for this exhibition.
The international panorama is enriched by exhibits from 77 Countries also installing their own exhibits in the city's historic center, as well as in the Giardini and the Arsenale, among which we point out an exhibition representing contemporary African art at the Artiglierie dell?Arsenale.
One of the major innovations in the 52nd Venice Biennial Exhibition is the new Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini, in the Arsenale. It hosts two rather diverse artists in poetics and use of media: "Sculture di linfa" by Giuseppe Penone and "Democrazy" by Francesco Vezzoli.
Sites of the Exhibition:
The Biennial Gardens and the large spaces of the Arsenale, renovated for art, and in the city. Other exhibition sites in the historic center of Venice host the participation of countries without pavilions and other events organized within the Exhibition.
