Hong Kong athletic delegation, China to the 15th Asian Games in Doha took home six gold medals, twelve silver medals, and ten bronze medals in 2006. Hong Kong has been selected to host the 5th East Asian Games in 2009.

Hong Kong residents love watersports. Hong Kong took home the gold in the women's mistral boardsailing class at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
