Hong Kong Dance Company
Established by the former Urban Council in 1981 with the aim of promoting Chinese dance, the Hong Kong Dance Company was formally incorporated in April 2001. Since its establishment, HKDC has staged over a hundred productions, choreographed by local, Mainland and overseas choreographers to critical acclaim. The Hong Kong Dance Company believes that dance derives from tradition but is not limited by boundaries. The unique culture and history of Hong Kong, which combines east and west, is a rich artistic source for Hong Kong dance.
Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra
After enriching Hong Kong's cultural life for more than a century, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPO) is rapidly emerging as one of Asia's leading orchestras. The orchestra has grown into a formidable ensemble of Chinese and international talents in the last three decades, reaching new heights in artistic excellence since the internationally renowned Edo de Waart joined as artistic director and chief conductor in the 2004-05 season.
HKPO annually touches the lives of close to 200,000
music lovers through more than 150 performances each year, from core symphonic
classics to collaboration with Canto-pop artists. In addition to numerous
educational and community outreach programs, the orchestra builds its
international reputation through radio and television broadcasts, recordings and
tours, and regularly attracts world-class artists to perform on the same stage.
