
It's the universality of experience that gives art its power as a form of cross cultural communication. A showing of art by Chinese and Russian Women is under way in Russia's capital. The works comprising a variety of styles and media are on display during China-Russia Women's Culture Week.
Gu Xiulian, chair of China's Women Association and her Russian counterpart cut the red ribbon at Tuesday's opening.

The pieces reveal the imagination and adept handiwork of Chinese and Russian
women. 70 works represent Chinese artistic styles in 10 categories including
cloth patching work, paper cutting , painting on fans and ethnic ornaments.
Attending the opening ceremony were Russian female artists from Moscow and other regions of the country, Chinese diplomats in Russia and representatives from Russian industry attended.
